This Tuesday, July 10, 7pm, Lolita bar at 266 Broome St (at Allen)--come check out my amazing students read and join us at a little party celebrating their fabulous work. About seven or so will read about five minutes apiece of gorgeous fresh prose that is free of cliches and full of original details and high stakes and great characters and all kinds of amazing stuff.
Otherwise what is going on is I am still out in the sticks writing. I have been going out a bunch up here--who knew--and hearing music and hanging out with my friends who live in this giant old beautiful former Grange Hall that is now the Ancram Opera House.
Also I just discovered this magic trick which is: listening to Erasure and the Go-Gos and just sort of driving and driving. Before you make fun of me, just try it: if done barefoot with the sunroof thingee open it's heaven.
There is this thing here with the trash about giving the guy downstairs 5 bucks and a pint of Guinness and he drives it to the dump? There were a few emails and phone calls about this last week with our landlord about this that totally confused me but now that I am up here I think I understand the system.
Oh also there are LOADS of fireflies I just wasn't in the right place.
